Activities

Now its time to work with your class mates! For this activity, everyone will need to remove a shoe.

Now, everyone who likes chocolate ice cream more than vanilla ice cream, line your shoes up in a straight line. Next, everyone who likes vanilla ice cream more than chocolate ice cream, line your shoes up in another straight line perpendicular to the first.

This creates a right angle!

Now, using Pythagoras' Theorem, predict the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle created when the chocolate and vanilla lines are joined.

Check your answers by removing your other shoe and creating the hypotenuse of the triangle.

Was your prediction correct? What aspects of the experiment may have affected the results?
